Night of the Living Dead
Runtime: 96 MinutesStudio: Image Ten
Director: George A. Romero
Writer(s): John A. Russo, George A. Romero
Staring: Judith O'Dea, Duane Jones, Karl Hardman, Keith Wayne, Judith Ridley
Description: Barbra and Johnny are visiting a gravesite, when a man comes over and attacks them. Barbra manages to escape, but Johnny hits his head on a gravesite. Barbra runs to a farmhouse to hide, where 6 others are hiding. The dead are returning to live, and are attacking the living.
Gore/Violence: A lot of people get attacked in this movie. There are even gory scenes. When Barbra first enters the farmhouse she sees a dead body up stairs with its skin ripped off. Zombie-Karen is also shown eating her father, and then killed her mother with a spade in a violent death.
Body Count: Since this is a zombie movie, it thrives on dead people. All of the main Characters die. Johnny (By a Zombie in the graveyard), Tom (In a burning truck), Judy (Also in a burning truck), Harry (Shot by Ben), Karen (Died from previous injuries), Helen (Died from Karen), Barbra (Died from Zombie-Johnny), and Ben (Shot by a zombie killer - mistaken for a zombie)
Nudity & Sexuality: You do get to see a naked zombie walking, but nothing special.
Death Scenes: No special deaths in this one. Helen's death scene was a lot like the death scene of Marion in Psycho. Lots of blood.
Acting/Storyline: Barbra screaming all the time annoyed the hell out of me. She should have died a lot earlier! I loved the storyline. It was so original for it's time.
Final Rating: It is the one that started it all. If George A. Romero did not make this film, we would not have the zombie movies we love so much today! This is my favorite movie of ALL TIME! Since this movie is pretty cheap, you can get it for around $10 at any movie store, or in a pack of old horror movies for a couple bucks more! OR!! You can get it online for FREE!! It's perfectly legal and available from the internet archive. You can get it HERE!
