Primeval

2007 - Rated: 14A
Runtime: 93 Minutes

Studio: Shustaines

Director: Michael Katleman

Writer(s): John D. Brancato , Michael Ferris

Staring: Dominic Purcell, Brooke Langton, Orlando Jones, Jürgen Prochnow, Gideon Emery

Description: A news team is sent on an assignment in South Africa to catch a 25 ft crocodile that has been attacking humans. While in South Africa, a Warlord who rules the jungles of South Africa is now on the hunt for the news team, and only their deaths will make him satisfied.

Gore/Violence: There wasn't really that much blood in it. When comparing this movie to Black Christmas (both movies rated 14A), Black Christmas blows this movie out of the water. This movie does have blood in it but not enough to please.

Body Count: The body count was pretty good in this movie. You didn't have to wait to long between deaths.

Nudity & Sexuality: Definitely not in this one.

Death Scenes: The deaths were not that good. They could have had amazing death scenes with the Crocodile but chose not too. Its a shame cause it had some potential to be entertaining.

Acting/Storyline: Personally, I thought storyline was a little bland. I never really like movies about killer animals unless its something amazing like Jaws. This movie reminds me of a beefed up Lake Placid and I wasn't really fond about that movie, and I feel the same way about this one.

One thing I really hated was the Warlord storyline. I really felt that the movie was more about the Warlord than the crocodile, the movie might have been better if that aspect was taken out.

The movie isn't all bad, there are some good parts in the movie. There are some funny one-liners in the movie that will make you laugh, and some of the scenes with the crocodile were entertaining. One scene I did like was when the camera man was running through the open field and the giant crocodile running after him...very cool.

The acting was great, I don't have any complaints about it. By the way, Dominic Purcell from Prison Break is in this movie, and wardrobe is very similar to the one he wears on Prison Break, hopefully he'll get a new one for his next movie.

Final Rating: The movie falls below the mark. There are some entertaining scenes in the movie, but that doesn't make a movie entertaining or worth your hard earned money. The previews for the movie is definitely misleading, and the movie is more about a Warlord than the actually 25ft Crocodile. Save your money and wait for this one to be released on DVD, or one of the movie channels.
