The Hitcher

2007 - Rated: R
Runtime: 83 Minutes

Studio: Rogue Pictures

Director: Dave Meyers

Writer(s): Eric Red (1986 screenplay), Jake Wade Wall

Staring: Sean Bean, Sophia Bush, Zachary Knighton, Neal McDonough, Kyle Davis

Description: Grace Andrews and Jim Halsey hit road for spring break. On the way to their destination they encounter a hitchhiker with a broken down car. Feeling sorry for the hitchhiker, Jim decides to drive him up to the closest motel. On the way to the motel, the hitchhiker attacks both of them, but Jim and Grace fight back and survive his attacks. Unfortunately, the hitchhiker will not be stopped that easily and he's on their trail to make their lives a living hell.

Gore/Violence: There is a lot of blood in this movie. One scene when Jim is in the back of the car with a family man who just got stabbed by the hitcher, there was blood everywhere in this scene, plus blood was squirting out of his mouth.

Body Count: The body count is pretty high in this movie. The hitcher goes on a killing spree throughout the movie, his kills a whole family, he kills a bunch of cops, this guy is insane.

Nudity & Sexuality: ZERO!!!

Death Scenes: The death scenes were not that good in the movie. The scenes were all the same and unoriginal. The death scenes were bloody which is always good for a horror movie.

Acting/Storyline: The Hitcher is a remake of a movie with the same name that came out in 1986. I never seen the original movie so I can't compare the two movie, I can only express my opinions on this horror remake.

Everyone knows never to pick up a hitchhiker because something bad might happen, and this movie shows the worst case scenario. The storyline itself wasn't that interesting, but the non-stop intensity in the movie keeps your attention throughout. The action never slows down which makes this movie worth watching even though the storyline is a little thin.

The acting in the movie is great. Sean Bean does a great job playing the insane hitchhiker.

Final Rating: This movie is worth watching, the action is non-stop, the movie is bloody, and the movie overall is good. Even without seeing the original movie, I can safely say that this one is a diamond in the ruff when compared to the other horror remakes that have come out recently.

Shustaines gives this movie 4/5 severed heads!
