Description: Based on Thomas Harris's eagerly awaited new book of the same name, Hannibal Rising takes us back in time to Hannibal Lecters formative years and finally explains the origins of evil. Beginning during World War II, this dark and intense prequel follows the young Hannibal's survival of the horrors of the war in Lithuania, his formative years in the fields of medicine and forensics in England and Russia, and finally his journey of revenge on the predators who changed his life forever during the collapse of the Eastern Front. Above all, it reveals the mind of a monster and tells the chilling story of how Hannibal came to be.
Gore/Violence: This movie has a tone of gore and violence! We get to see hannibal mature into a killing machine with no conscience. It starts off slow, but when Hannibal kills his first person, he then goes after the people that killed his sister many years ago.
Body Count: A relatively high body-count in this movie. There is not a crazy killing spree, but Hannibal picks them off on-by-one.
Nudity & Sexuality: Nope.
Death Scenes: This movie has a great variety of death scenes. We start off with a simple beheading, and make our way through choking, drowning, and even cutting of major arteries.
Acting/Storyline: WOW. This was a great story-line. I can't remember much of the original, but I did notice parts in the movie that come up again in Hannibal's future. The acting was also top notch. Gaspard Ulliel played a very convincing Hannibal.
Final Rating: I may not be a fan of the Hannibal franchise, but this movie was great. It's always nice to see how a powerful killing machine has come to be. The best part of the movie is that we get to see why Hannibal has a taste for human flesh. But I wont spoil that here, go watch it!
