Description: David and Amy Fox are traveling to their parents house and decide to turn off the interstate on to a side road. While on this side road, their car breaks down and they decide to walk to the closest motel. Once they get their room, David decides to relax and check out the video tapes that were left in the room. The tapes that were left in his room contained a murder that happened in the exact same room they are staying in and now they are going to be the newest stars in these sick movies.
Gore/Violence: The movie wasn't really gory. Of course they had blood in the movie, but not over the top like a traditional horror movie.
Body Count: The body count is alright in the movie. About four people die in the movie, if you don't count the murders on the video tapes, which by the way are not really shown.
Nudity & Sexuality: Nope, the couple didn't have time to get it on, they were too busy trying to survive. It think there might have been a bit of nudity on the video tapes, but I'm not positive.
Death Scenes: The death scenes are not anything new or creative. One guy gets smashed by a car and his pinned against the wall. The good part is how the guy is shown coughing up blood, awesome.
Acting/Storyline: I actually liked the storyline. I know it followed the old cliché where a couple turns off the highway/interstate for a shortcut and shit happens, which has been played to death. I did like how they are trapped in the motel (there are secret passages everywhere), and I also like how they added the video tapes in the storyline. David uses the video tapes as a way to find hidden passages and the mistakes that these amateur murderers are making. I thought there were some interesting ideas in this movie and they were executed well.
The acting was top notch, especially from Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale
Final Rating: Final Rating: I never found myself bored during the movie. There is a lot of tension filled scenes that will keep you at the edge of your seat. The movie doesn't stray too far from the traditional horror movie, but there some interesting and creative ideas in the movie that makes it stand out from the crowd
