Bacterium

2007 - Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 80 Minutes

Studio: POP Cinemas

Director: Brett Piper

Writer(s): Brett Piper

Staring: Alison Whitney, Benjamin Kanes, Miya Sagara, Andrew Kranz, Tom Cikoski

Description: A group of paint ballers stumbled upon an abounded house in the bush. Inside the house they met a scientist that is trying to find a cure for a new biological weapon that could destroy the world. The biological weapon is let loose and instantly multiplies destroying anything that is in its way. Now they must find a way to stop this weapon before its too late.

Gore/Violence: The movie wasn't gory at all. When the bacteria did attack someone, all it left was skin and bones. There is not much blood in this movie at all.

Body Count: Body count for the movie was low which isn't too much of a downfall.

Nudity & Sexuality: Yes, there was some nudity in this movie. The movie is rated PG-13 and I thought it was kind of weird since it felt like the naked girl was on screen longer than a PG-13 rating allowed.

Death Scenes: The death scenes weren't the best. Like I said above the bacteria just ate your flesh away so its hard task to come up with unique ways to show that. Maybe with a different rating they might have been able to show more, but I have feeling they were trying to target this movie to a wider audience.

Acting/Storyline: The storyline is similar to the Blob where the government is testing a new weapon and it gets out of hand. I never really like the Blob so this movie doesn't really fit in to my tastes. I did notice that the movie was very well shot which is always the case with Shock-o-rama cinema's movies. I I truly believe that the people that like the Blob will definitely get a kick out of Bacterium.

The acting for this movie was really well done for an independent movie. Independent movies get a bad rap because of the bad acting in most independent movies, but this movie does a pretty good job in this category.

Final Rating: This movie has a lot of things going for it. Unfortunately it doesn't fit in with my taste but I'm not going to knock the movie for that. I thought the acting was well done and the camera work was well done. If you are a fan of the Blob, I think you will get some entertainment out of this movie and it's worth your time to watch it.
