Saw IV
Runtime: 95 MinutesStudio: Lions Gate
Director: Darren Lynn Bousman
Writer(s): Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan
Staring: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Scott Patterson, Betsy RussellLyriq Bent, Donnie Wahlberg
Description: During an autopsy on Jigsaw's body, a tape is found in his stomach. The tape is for Detective Hoffman and warns him that he will not go untested, and as a added bonus, Commander Riggs is put into the game to test his will to survive and to save Detective Matthews.
Gore/Violence: It would not be a Saw movie without lots of gore. The movie jumps right into the gore at the beginning of the movie and does not slow down. Again, Saw IV has some creative traps that will make anyone feel uncomfortable.
Body Count: The body count isn't has high as Saw III but the movie holds its own in that aspect.
Nudity & Sexuality: No nudity this time around which is very unfortunate.
Death Scenes: Saw is known for creative death scenes and this one doesn't disappoint. The trap at the end is my personal favourite which I won't talk about here. Another trap that I liked was a machine that kept pulling a woman's pony tail through the machine's gears ripping her scalp off, nicely done.
Acting/Storyline: The storyline is similar to the other Saw movies only this time they give the audience a look at Jigsaw before he became Jigsaw. I thought it was nice to see that he was a normal person before society changed him for the worse. Saw IV pretty much ties all the Saw movies into one explaining the some of the questions the audience was left with from previous movies. I thought the storyline was creative enough considering it is the 4th movie in 4 years. I really wish the Saw movies would not come out every year, they can take some extra time with the movie to make sure its best they can make it and still would make the same amount of money if not more.
The acting in the movie is top-notch all around.
Final Rating: Saw 4 is a decent movie, it has creative elements in the storyline to keep the audience's attention. It was nice to have all the Saw movies tied into one plus it was nice to see what happened to Detective Matthews. I heard that the Saw movies will continue up to at least six, I'll be very surprised if the fifth movie will be good, but it doesn't matter because I will be there to see it when it comes out next year.
