The Hills Have Eyes

March 10, 2006 - Rated: NC-17/18A
Runtime: 101 Minutes

Studio: 20th Century Fox

Director: Alexandre Aja

Writer(s): Wes Craven, Alexandre Aja, Grégory Levasseur

Staring: Aaron Stanford, Dan Byrd, Emilie de Ravin, Kathleen Quinlan, Dan Byrd

Description: A Remake of the 1977 original. A family, on their way to California, takes a detour through the desert, and from some bad directions from a gas station attendant, find themselves stranded out in the middle of nowhere after having their vehicle being sabotaged. Now at their mercy, people, deformed from the radiation in the area, pick off the members one by one.

Gore/Violence: This has a LOT of gore in this movie. They do a good job in showing you people's heads blown off, being decapitated, and getting shot. This movie is violent! Compared to the original, this movie has 99.9% more gore!

Body Count: Pretty high body count, much like the original. Probably a couple bodies more than the original.

Nudity & Sexuality: No nudity, but one of the deformed attackers tried to rape Brenda.

Death Scenes: Awesome death scenes! One thing that is almost always better in a remake are the death scenes. You get to see all the gore you want in this movie!

Acting/Storyline: The acting was pretty good in this remake. They had some good actors in it, which always helps. The storyline was pretty good, but I'm undecided, which I like better. This one, about humans deformed from radiation. Or the original, which just had a family of mountain men.

Final Rating: This movie is by far better then the original, but I think it still could be better. The death scenes are awesome, and there are some startling parts in the movie. (I always consider popping out to be startling, not scary.) It's pretty good, and I would pick it up to buy on DVD, but not at the full retail price... Maybe buy it as an ex rental.

BiGMaN gives this movie 3.5/5 severed heads!
