2000 Maniacs

March 20, 1964 - Rated: Unrated
Runtime: 87 Minutes

Studio: Image Entertainment

Director: Herschell Gordon Lewis

Writer(s): Herschell Gordon Lewis

Staring: William Kerwin, Connie Mason, Jeffrey Allen, Ben Moore, Gary Bakeman

Description: Six Yankee travelers are loured into Pleasant Vally to be guests of honor in their centennial celebration. The six reluctantly accept, and soon find out the real reason behind the centennial.

Gore/Violence: There is a lot of violence and gore in this movie. They do not show blood squirting out, or anything like that, but they do show the aftermath with all the blood and gore.

Body Count: A relatively high body count with 4/6 dead.

Nudity & Sexuality: Zip. Zero. Zilch.

Death Scenes: Almost all of the death scenes are not shown, and you only get to see the corpse after they are finished, but most death scenes are pretty cool. My favourite is when they rolled someone down the hill in a barrel filled with spikes on the inside. Impressive.

Acting/Storyline: The acting was pretty good, but sometime the accents are kind of annoying. They just seemed too fake. The storyline was pretty good, but they let the cat out of the bad way too early by letting two of the travelers find out about the real reason by the centennial celebration.

Final Rating: I thought it was a alright movie. The death scenes were better then the overall movie. The ending could have been better. I've seen the remake entitled "2001 Maniacs", and think it is a lot better. Although, it doesn't have the barrel roll death scene.

BiGMaN gives this movie 2.5/5 severed heads!
