They Live
Runtime: 95 MinutesStudio: Universal Studios
Director: John Carpenter
Writer(s): Ray Nelson John Carpenter
Staring: Roddy Piper, Keith David, Meg Foster, George 'Buck' Flower, Peter Jason.
Description: A construction who has been having a string of bad luck finds a special pair of sunglasses in a trash can. These special sunglasses portray the world as it really is, and its a very scary place. Though these sunglasses, billboards, signs and magazines displays phrases like "Stay Asleep", "Obey", "No imagination", etc. Also, people who look like humans are actually aliens controlling the world that we live, keeping us in a brain wash state. This construction worker has had enough, and is determined to put an end to it.
Gore/Violence: Not too much gore in the movie, but there are a lot of shootings in the movie. The aliens are pretty ugly, but so are some of the women.
Body Count: Body count is very high. Aliens are being shot all through the movie.
Nudity & Sexuality: At the end there is a scene with jiggly tits in them.
Death Scenes: The death scenes are not creative. Almost everyone in the movie gets shot, thats it. The good news is that there are a lot of deaths in the movie.
Acting/Storyline: The storyline was creative and very interesting. The movie is about aliens who are living among humans and sending hypnotic signals to keep humans in submission. The movie is well written and well directed, and will keep your interest throughout the whole movie.
The acting was surprisingly good. Roddy Piper actually does a very good job throughout the movie.
Final Rating: The movie is definitely worth the time to watch it. I was very surprised at how good the movie is with Roddy Piper being the lead role. The script is very creative and easily one of the better movies to come out of the 80's.
