Description: A great white shark is terrorizing a Long Island town. At first the mayor down plays the situation until more of the town's people are attacked. Without hesitation, the chief of police, a shark scientist, and a sailor set out to hunt the killer shark down.
Gore/Violence: There is some gore in this movie, especially near the end when Quint gets eaten by the great white. There is also a scene with a decapitated foot, but the scene with Quint is awesome.
Body Count: Body count is low in the film. What really surprised me is that the movie had a child get eaten by the shark. Usually movies turn the camera away when a child is being murdered, but this movie does not and it leaves a memorable image in your mind
Nudity & Sexuality: No nudity, you should know that by the PG rating.
Death Scenes: The way the death scenes were shot really sticks in your head. The opening scene when the girl goes for a midnight swim, no blood, no shark is shown, but you know she is in for one grizzly death.
Acting/Storyline: Nowadays, the shark theme does not interest me at all, but when this movie came out it was still a fresh idea. The story is written so well, and shot so well that you will not need to see another shark movie. It's very rare that a movie comes out where it dominates the genre for years to come. There has been shark related movies that have been released over the years, but none even comes close to the quality that Jaws possesses.
Like the rest of the movie, the acting is great. The movie has great actor/actresses that take a good movie and make it a great movie.
Final Rating: Jaws is easily a classic movie in my mind. Some people might not find this movie to be a horror film, but it does have some horror elements in it. It is a very well written and well directed film, anyone who hasn't seen it needs to pick up, you won't be disappointed.
