Land of the Dead
Runtime: 97 MinutesStudio: Universal Studios
Director: George A. Romero
Writer(s): George A. Romero
Staring: Dennis Hopper, Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Robert Joy, Eugene Clark
Description: The living dead have taken over the world. Some of the last humans take refuge in a city surrounded by water on 3 sides. The rich life in a luxurious skyscraper, while the rest have to fend for themselves on the streets. Outside of the city, the dead are starting to evolve, and have become a greater threat to the survivors.
Gore/Violence: There are some great gore scenes in this movie. There are many times where you get to see a zombie biting someone's hand off, or a zombie getting his head shot off.
Body Count: You'll need help trying to add up the countless people who died in the film. From zombies to humans, this body count has to be very high. You wont be disappointed.
Nudity & Sexuality: What makes a good zombie movie better? NUDITY! Yes, there are some topless girls in this one in one of the bars in the city. It's not a big part of the movie, but who cares. I'll take what I can get.
Death Scenes: It never fails in a zombie movie to see decapitations, and people being ripped limb from limb. The attacks on the zombies and humans are also great... especially with a big ass tank called Dead Reckoning.
Acting/Storyline: There is not much acting involved in the zombie side of the movie, but the living side does a great job. Cautious at first, I thought Dennis Hopper might not be a good choice for a zombie movie, but it turned out great. Even with a great line, "Zombies. Man, they freak me out".
Final Rating: I enjoyed this movie very much. I am a big fan of the Living Dead Series by George A. Romero. This movie will not disappoint a zombie movie fan, or even the casual movie watcher.
