A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors

1987 - Rated: R
Runtime: 96 Minutes

Studio: New Line Home Video

Director: Chuck Russell

Writer(s): Wes Craven

Staring: Heather Langenkamp, Craig Wasson, Patricia Arquette, Robert Englund, Ken Sagoes, Rodney Eastman.

Description: The last of the Elm street children are committed to a psychiatric ward where they still haunted by dreams of Freddy Kruger. Fortunately, Nancy Thompson is back and ready to help the children fight the dream demon and put an end to him once and for all.

Gore/Violence: Very gory movie. Veins are ripped out of a guys arm, a woman head is decapitated. Way more gory than the previous movie in the series.

Body Count: The body count in this movie is pretty high for the Nightmare series. Around 7 people die by the hand of Freddy in this one.

Nudity & Sexuality: There is one scene of nudity, where a nurse lures a kid into the room, and then she turns into Freddy.

Death Scenes: The deaths are creative in this movie. There is one scene where Freddy uses the guy's veins to control him like a marionette puppet. The death scenes in this movie easily beat out the deaths in the previous movies, except for Tina's murder in the original. The death scenes in this movie are gross, but very creative.

Acting/Storyline: The storyline returned to the roots of the original. It continues the story line that the original established (also helps that Wes Craven was part of this sequel). The story is very well written, and this is the movie that introduced the drug hypnocil that is later used in Freddy vs Jason. It gets a little silly towards the end when the children start obtaining dream powers, it makes sense since it is a dream world, but just seemed silly to me.

The acting is very well done; each character has a good on screen chemistry with each other that makes the movie more enjoyable to watch.

Final Rating: This is easily one of the better movies in the Nightmare series. The story line continues on from the original and gives the audience an idea of what happened to Nancy. This is definitely a movie that is worth your time and money.

Shustaines gives this movie 4/5 severed heads!
