Exorcism: The Possession of Gail Bowers
Runtime: 85 MinutesStudio: The Asylum
Director: Leigh Slawner
Writer(s): Leigh Slawner
Staring: Erica Roby, Thomas Downey, Griff Furst, Noel Thurman, David Shick
Description: Gail hasn't been acting like herself lately. Her family decides to contact a psychiatrist to get to the root of the problem. They find out that Gail thinks she is possessed by a demon, and contacts a priest to try to help her. They did not realize it wasn't going to be an easy task.
Gore/Violence: There isn't really any gore in the movie, but some blood, and an attempt at some gore. There is a fair bit of violence and fighting in the movie though, with most of it centering on Gail.
Body Count: Around 5 people die throughout the movie, most of which during the exorcism.
Nudity & Sexuality: WOW. We get to see the boobies of every woman in this movie. It's not really a whole lot since there are only three women in the movie, but 100% is what I like to see in more movies. There is a lot of talk about sex in the movie, all of it from the demon possessing Gail. Apparently demons like to talk dirty to everyone.
Death Scenes: Not really any crazy death scenes, but it sure does have a variety of deaths. They have heads crushed, eyes gouged out, and stabbed, just to name a few.
Acting/Storyline: The acting was actually all right. I have no complaints about the acting, but I noticed that a lot of these actors are the same actors in a lot of movies put out by "The Asylum". The storyline is another story. The movie is filled with bits and pieces from other Exorcism-based movies. There are a bunch of parts in the movie where the characters seem to loose all sense of reasoning, and start doing stupid things. I wont go into details... alright I will, you convinced me. There is one part in the beginning of the movie where a neighbor comes over and introduces herself as they neighbor from two houses over. Gail's response was "Do you want to go for a ride in my new Jeep?". I was like what the? Maybe that's just me, but I thought that was weird.
Final Rating: I usually like most Exorcism-based movies, but this one wasn't that good. Just like the other movies put out by "The Asylum" it is basically a rip off of other movies like it. I did like the added nudity, which you don't really see in movies like this, but it isn't enough to make me give it a better rating. I liked the acting, but it seemed like the sound/voices were our of sync with their mouths sometimes. Overall. It sucked.
