Night Watch

2004 - Rated: R
Runtime: 114 Minutes

Studio: Fox Searchlight

Director: Timur Bekmambetov

Writer(s): Timur Bekmambetov, Laeta Kalogridis

Staring: Vladimir Menshov, Konstantin Khabensky, Valery Zolotukhin, Maria Poroshina, Galina Tunina

Description: There have always been "others" living with humanity, fighting to shift the balance of light and dark to one side. In medieval times, a truce was reached allowing "others" to choose which side (light or dark) they want to fight for. A child has been discovered that will shift the balance of light and dark to one side forever, and a race is on to see which side can get the child first.

Gore/Violence: For a vampire movie, there is not a lot of blood. There is a good amount in the movie, but nothing like the Blade series.

Body Count: Body count is high, most of the deaths happen at the beginning where a war is taking place.

Nudity & Sexuality: There is a quick boob flash.

Death Scenes: Most of the death scenes happen at the beginning, and all of them were stabbings. One other death scene takes place which is a vampire that burns up from the light.

Acting/Storyline: The storyline was not that interesting, its about a child who can shift the balance of light and dark to one side, and both sides are trying to obtain the child. What makes it even worse is there are sub-plots that make no sense at all. There too many things to keep track of which makes the movie too complicated to understand, and too much of a chore to watch.

The acting had its high and low parts, but you won't be worried about the acting, you'll be wandering what the hell is going on.

Final Rating: Unfortunately, the movie turned out to be a shitfest. The main plot is easy to understand, but the way the sub-plots are added to the main plot makes the storyline too complicated. The movie had a good start, but the movie quickly ended up in the toilet.
