Description: When popular horror actress Rebecca Raven (Misty Mundae) gets the axe from the 'B' movie studio that made her a household name, she travels to the country for some rest and relaxation... and a bloody confrontation with a flesh-starved zombie hungry to bite off more than it can swallow. Meanwhile, the frantic studio executives must rummage through past productions to find a sexy new star for their next film, and they come across two fright flicks that may offer a solution. Mechanoid features tiny, killer aliens - on the run from intergalactic police - that crash-land in a New Jersey salvage yard and battle its pissed-off proprietor with a 50-foot-tall creature borne of scrap metal and junked parts. In Lonely Are the Brain, an over-sized, under-stimulated hunk of evil gray matter experiments on beautiful young women for the sole purpose of experiencing human sensual pleasure. Does either film star the next "Rebecca Raven," who could soon be nothing but zombie left-overs? Don't turn to the next page just yet...
Gore/Violence: This movie has some great gore! Nothing is better then seeing a girl rip out another girl's heart and then take a bite of it. There is a fair bit of violence but most of it does not centre on death and destruction, it's spread out in gunfights with aliens, tickle fights with girls (In my mind this is how all girls resolve their issues), and of course a decapitation of a zombie.
Body Count: Not too much death in this movie, but it's not a bad thing in this case. A zombie dies... again, some little green men meet their maker, and a girl dies of a heart attack in her sleep. (Sounds boring, but it isn't - she got her heart ripped out).
Nudity & Sexuality: BOOBIES! Not only that, but full frontal nudity. What I found great about this movie is there is a director (In the movie) that loves nudity in his films. When going to watch a movie for talent, he says, "If it doesn't have two hot chicks naked in the first scene, I'm not interested". Finally, someone to relate to! :-) There is quite a bit in this movie, and I love it!
Death Scenes: As I said previously, there are some really nice deaths in this movie, even though there isn't too many. The hearts ripped out of the girl's bodies was excellent. I love the special effects in this movie! Alot of independent films have death scenes that look fake and draw the viewer out of the movie, with Shock-o-Rama it is the exact opposite. A+
Acting/Storyline: The acting was superb. Equal, if not better to a big budget movie. You could not tell that this was an independent movie; unlike some other movies I have seen. The storyline was excellent. I have to admit, it threw me off a bit having movies in movies, but after the first, I got use to how this was going to play out. It added to the movie by being able to do things that would have pushed away viewers if in a traditional horror movie. (Such as chasing a zombie with a chainsaw, having a gunfight with an alien, and destroy an advanced human brain from the future).
Final Rating: I loved this movie. This is a great independent movie, and I look forward to the next movie by EI Independent Cinema. I would definitely recommend picking this movie up. I'm going to go one step farther, and give you a link to EI Independent Cinima's homepage. Click HERE! Shock-O-Rama pokes fun at traditional horror movies while providing non-stop entertainment.
Shustaines' Input: I was very surprised by the overall quality of Shock-O-Rama. With all the crappy independent movies I watched, I automatically assume the movie is going to suck. I was dead wrong on this one. This movie easily surpasses all of my expectations and rejuvenates my love for independent films. Shock-O-Rama is a diamond in the ruff of the independent film genre and should not be overlooked.
