An American Haunting

August 15, 2006 - Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 91 Minutes

Studio: Freestyle

Director: Courtney Solomon

Writer(s): Brent Monahan, Courtney Solomon

Staring: Donald Sutherland, Sissy Spacek, Rachel Hurd-Wood, James D'Arcy

Description: Based on true events that took place in Tennessee during the 1800s. Between the years 1818-1820, the Bell Family of Red River, Tennessee was visited by an unknown presence that haunted the family and eventually caused the death of one of its members.

Gore/Violence: No gore in this movie, but there is some violence from the ghost attacking the girl and her father.

Body Count: Very low body count, but the movie does not focus on death, more on terrorizing the family.

Nudity & Sexuality: Nope. Not in a PG-13 movie.

Death Scenes: Nothing special here. Although it is based on the only account of a ghost causing the death of a person, so I guess thats a little different...

Acting/Storyline: Most of the acting and characters are pretty good. All of the main characters are excellent and played their part perfectly. The storyline is great. I love horror movies that are based on true stories. It makes it a little more scarier.

Final Rating: When the movie first started out I thought it was great. Middle, still good. At the ending I was hoping it would end. It seemed to go on, and on. I loved the ghost scenes and contained a bunch of the classic pop-out scare tactics in traditional horror movies. It was good, but ending it a bit sooner would have made it great.

BiGMaN gives this movie 3/5 severed heads!
