Description: A sheriff receives a letter from his ex-finance asking for help to find her missing daughter. At first, he is reluctant to go, but he just couldn't say no to her in her time of need. He catches a flight to a secluded island where the town's beliefs are a lot different than his own. During his investigation, he uncovers plot that the towns people are planning to kill his ex-finance's daughter and he only has a few days to find out where she is. He is now determined to save the little girl, but who is going to save him from the towns people.
Gore/Violence: No gore at all in this movie. There is a mangled body in the picture but nothing disgusting.
Body Count: The body is really low in this movie. Only two people died in this movie, and only one death scene is shown.
Nudity & Sexuality: Sadly no!!
Death Scenes: The one death scene that is shown happens at the end of the movie. The victim is burnt alive. I won't describe it any further since it will give away the ending.
Acting/Storyline: I have never seen the original Wicker Man, so my opinions are based on this movie alone. Personally, I felt the storyline was boring. I never really got into the movie and I wasn't really excited to see what was going to happen next. The movie seemed to play out in a linear path, there was no climax in the movie that got your heart pumping or that made the viewer fill up with anticipation.
The acting was very good in the movie. I am not a big fan of Nicholas Cage, but he does a very good job in Wicker Man. Too bad his acting couldn't make up for the storyline.
Final Rating: The Wicker Man remake is a sub par film. The storyline is played out slowly, there is no climax, and its just boring. I don't mind remakes of classic horror films, but I do hate when the remakes are just pushed into theaters to make money off of it. The studio should have took the time and put some effort into this movie.
