Psycho

June 16, 1960 - Rated: R
Runtime: 109 Minutes

Studio: Universal Studios

Director: Alfred Hitchcock

Writer(s): Robert Bloch, Joseph Stefano

Staring: Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Martin Balsam, John Gavin, Vera Miles

Description: A secretary, on the run after stealing $40,000 from her boss, stops to rest at the Baits Motel. After her disappearance, people start to come and look for her.

Gore/Violence: There is not much gore in this movie. It was shot in the 60's after all. But there were a couple scenes where they show people getting killed.

Body Count: 2. Simple enough. Marion, and Arbogast.

Nudity & Sexuality: Not that I noticed. Supposedly, after Hitchcock submitted the film, the studio rejected it claiming you can see a nipple on Marion's body double. Hitchcock assumed the studio would not bother watching it again, so he just resubmitted the movie, and it was accepted.

Death Scenes: The shower scene is a classic death scene in movies. Everyone knows, or has heard of that death scene. Arbogast's death was pretty cool as well. Baits slashed his face with a knife, and the blood dripped from the cut.

Acting/Storyline: Both the acting, and storyline was superb. A very original storyline. FYI some ideas of Norman Bates were gotten from real life serial killer Ed Gein

Final Rating: This is a great classic horror movie. It's simple, without any of the modern special effects, and still managed to keep my attention throughout the film.

BiGMaN gives this movie 3/5 severed heads!
